Types of Disc

How The Game Works

Learning The Basics

Unlike in real golf when you have 14 clubs to choose from, in Disc Golf there are six main disc selections to choose from. Those disc would be a Driver, Fairway Driver, Hybrid Driver, Mid-Range, Approach Disc and a Putter.

Learning Disc Flight the Basics

Throwing the disc may sound easy to someone who has never played Disc Golf before.  But there are so many things to learn about the game it will change their entire perspective of the game.

When Throwing a basic Backhand throw for a right-handed player the disc typically ends up finishing the flight dumping down to the left. That shot is called a hyzer. A hyzer is when you release the disc at a slightly downward angle. Which than allows for a simple straight to left finish for the disc. The shot would be opposite however for a lefty player, finishing to the right.

Throwing a Forehand, putting this into a comparison its like a sidearm baseball pitch. Throwing the disc from your hip on the right hand side of your body. This shot allows for the disc to start straight and finish to the right.

Still there are so many more terms and ways to throw the disc, and different shot types as well. ECOS Disc Golf Academy will show you everything you would need to know to score better and impress everyone you take on the course.
